Sunlight #1

This photo captures the sun in a transition period, where it is present but only lighting part of the landscape. One's attention is immediately drawn to the sun itself, as well as the sky and ocean lit by it, but there is a surprising amount of detail in the dark foreground and mountains, encouraging the viewer to take the time to visually explore the photo.

  1. I really enjoy this photo because of the contrast and interesting effects it brings. As you mentioned, the positioning of the sun makes the entire landscape surrounding it look entirely dark, and this focuses your eyes to the water, which I feel is the highlight of the photo. The way the light shines on the water but gently fades as you look more left almost makes the water appear to be solid and firm instead of fluent and constantly in motion
