View of Toledo

View of Toledo MET DP349564.jpg
The source of light is clearly from the sun but it is blocked by clouds dimming down the color. The gray sky is similar to the grays of the town but as the landscape becomes more prevalent the lighter green begins to counteract the dark gray.

  1. I think it is interesting how such a limit light source can still illuminate a scene. The clouds are almost completely blocking the light, however, the viewer can still feel its presence.

  2. I love the minimal lighting in this picture. There is enough light to illuminate the scenery, but not enough to push through the clouds. I also like how the clouds filtering the sun creates a cool tone rather than a warm tone, it set a different mood entirely.

  3. The depth is interesting as there is no one specific light source.

  4. By having the cloud block the sun it sets a mood of mystery to the piece. By not having the direct sunlight, the grass and the building are not as vibrant as they are not receiving enough light to show their colors to the fullest potential. By placing the darkest colors next to the lightest, which is produced by the sun hitting the clouds, it also creates a sense of drama.
