When I think of gobos I think of the cheesy backgrounds of the dance recitals I grew up with. Obviously this one is super nice with multicolored cyc lighting. This is super common in having a city projected on a cyc to establish that a dance is set in New York or Chicago or something. It's cheesy but it's effective.
I love these gobos in combination with the multi-colored lights. While I agree that it is a little cheesy I think it has a really cool affect, and definitely gives the viewer an idea of what they will be seeing, or at least gives the room a very specific atmosphere.
