I find the back lighting particularly interesting in this scene from wicked. I like how the red is used to silhouette the flying monkeys, and make them seem more like demons, while the wicked which is still the highlight in the forefront of the scene.

The effect of the red lighting on the monkeys vs. the witch is interesting, and I'm impressed with how the vibrant red and the color of the witch's face were presented alongside each other as colors that could very easily conflict. It's a bit hard to tell in this photo, but it seems like the light is very focused near the back of the stage, and I'm curious what this scene would look like from other angles.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what would happen if the red light were also on the witch. I am curious how her green skin would appear in this light, considering that red and green are complementary colors. From what I can gather via the internet, it would not be pretty.
