Spinning Ball Illusion

This video is so interesting because of the illusion the light gives the spinning ball in the middle. When the black backdrop is added the ball appears to be spinning with light coming out of it, dramatizing the entire scene. This reflection of light makes the ball look like it is exploding with beams of light coming out on every side. I think this illusion is interesting and could be used in theater to help create the illusion of quick movements, something that could otherwise be difficult to do.

  1. This illusion I think is very successful at demonstrating the movement of light because there are two movements occurring at the same time. The center of the piece gives the spinning ball effect, while the outer layers of the piece gives a more graphic movement. It is interesting to see such a harsh graphic movement end with a softer more gentle movement.
