The lighting helps to enhance the movement of the actors by being able to only illuminate parts of their body to make to enhance the chaos of the scence.
The complete blackness with only the clothes illuminating the stage made it really easy to create illusions. One of the scenes made it seem like the 2 red figures were defying gravity, which they're able to do because the lack of light on the people holding them up, which keeps that immersion.
It's interesting that when the first character seems to disappear, and reappear across the stage (0:43), it's the simple turning off and on of lights that causes our brains to assume this is the same character that has transported.
