This picture shows the use of uplighting in landscape design. I really like this kind of uplighting for the palm trees because it frames the tree nicely and makes it appear very dramatic and important to the landscaping. I really like the use of uplighting because it selectively highlights the trees without making the overall space too bright. I also like how the source of the light is subtly hidden. In this lighting, it draws the viewer to focus on the trees, which are contrasted from the dark background. I also really like that the uplighting allows for each aspect of the tree to be highlighted and framed by the light, including the beautiful branches and unique trunk.
I agree that the light plays quite an important part in highlighting the palm trees. The lights must also be quite tight and focused in order to not be blinding to pedestrians as they walk past. Additionally, I only see one light for each palm tree, which would indicate to me that the palm trees are only highlighted one one side. If I were to look at the palm trees from behind them, like where the red car is, I don't think they would be highlighted like they are from this perspective.
ReplyDeleteThe lighting from the bottom is such a cool and unique idea! It gives lots of texture to the trunk and adds dimension to the leaves. Also, because the light isn't colored, we can see the true colors of the trees as if they were in daylight.
ReplyDeleteBottom lighting is a very cool touch and it shapes the tree in a unique way.
